GBH opened in October 2007, with funds we gained from the sale of our own downhill bikes, the intention being to work on custom builds of all levels, recycling old beaters and repairing everything and anything that customers brought to us.
We do not operate a diary system, instead we use a first come first served system of repairs, which works fine for us, and means we never get lazy or bored!!
We first anticipated that we would mostly be working on old commuter bikes, and while that is a valued part of our income, it is not the mainstay of our work. Instead we have been asked to produce a lot of custom builds, numbering somewhere around 150-200, all based around old frames which we have either powder coated or enamelled. Then rebuilt using reconditioned old parts , new parts or a mixture of both.
We have also been surprised by the amount of of fixed gear bikes we have been asked to produce, a mixture of ghetto style hack bikes and bling machines for enthusiasts. We stock Velocity deep-v rims and hubs, as well as a selection of track parts such as Miche, Paul components, Phil Wood, Sugino, Shimano, Continental, and Chris King to mention but a few. We pride ourselves on our combined 18-20 years experience in the cycle trade, and riding experience of somewhere around 50-60 years now!
We are primarily a workshop, based around two Cytech qualified mechanics. We provide a more intimate service, building bicycles to each customers specification, no matter what their budget. And we also try to recycle wherever possible!”
